Even as a child, David Garretson was good with numbers. A Metairie-native who graduated from Jesuit, David earned a B.S. in Finance from the University of New Orleans, and the rest was history. The banking and finance industry welcomed David with open arms back in 1989—today, he offers 31 years of experience helping individuals, families, and businesses achieve their financial goals.
In 1998, David narrowed his focus to the mortgage business, and after years of learning the ropes, David saw that he could expand his reach and help more potential homeowners by founding his own independent mortgage company. In December of 2016, Crescent City Home Mortgage was born.
“The main reason I started Crescent City Home Mortgage was to have better control of the service I could provide clients—I knew that I could provide a wider variety of products and better rates,” says David. With Crescent City Home Mortgage, David is able to beat the rates of most other mortgage companies and banks. He is also positioned to help aspiring homeowners that have “less than perfect” credit realize home ownership. From an office located on the Northshore in Madisonville, David and his team service the entire state of Louisiana.
“What really drives me is getting a tough loan closed for someone that has been turned down elsewhere or getting my clients a much lower rate than they have been quoted by the big boys,” says David. Crescent City Home Mortgage not only has among the lowest rates in the industry for VA, RD, FHA, and Conventional Loans, but it routinely secures loans for clients that have been turned down by other mortgage companies and banks.
A Top Producer in Louisiana, David is known by his colleagues as a one-of-a-kind loan officer who truly prioritizes client needs.
“Agents know they can send clients to me at any hour—they know I’ll answer the phone,” says David. “People can call me 365 days a year to get pre-approved or just ask questions. I rarely take a day off,” he says.
Of course, David has his loving family to thank for his ability to offer clients such flexibility and availability. A proud husband, father, and grandfather, David lives in Covington with his wife Donna and two Labrador mixes, Molly and Jyn.

In addition to his decades-long history working in finance, David also spent significant time growing the local sports community. In 1989, he founded the Metairie Basketball League with Billy Spinner before co-running the league with Spinner for 27 years. David is a proud Louisiana sports fan and a season ticket holder of the New Orleans Saints and LSU Tigers.
