“The sinking problem in New Orleans affects us all,” says Laura Daspit, director of permits. “Homes in the area need pilings driven deep into the ground to support the house. However, the depth of the solid soil can vary on the same site, preventing some pilings from reaching the point of refusal. Local building codes require minimum piling depths for certain areas. In some cases, pilings need to go deeper than the code requires.”
The resolution that Davie Shoring has come up with is called PermaLOCK, and this patented system ensures true vertical alignment while pressing the pile to refusal. “Our cylinders are designed to lock together, therefore ensuring that every cylinder is sturdy and becomes one continuous concrete piling,” says Daspit.
With this type of threading, Daspit says, there is no lateral movement during or after installation due to expansive soils, soil consolidation, sloping sites, ground pressure or tree roots.
The company is owned by Warren P. Davie, who works closely with Alan Shepherd, the representative salesman.

Some of the things we are known for include participating in Rebuilding Together New Orleans along with the Preservation Resource Center of New Orleans, and in 2005, we were awarded for the heaviest building moved not on rubber-tired dollies.
