The largest organization serving homeless families with children in New Orleans, the New Orleans Women & Children’s Shelter (NOWCS) continues its mission to broaden opportunities for women and children to find a life of safety, fulfillment, and stability as a family unit. With more than twenty-nine years working for non-profit organizations, Chief Executive Officer Dawn Bradley-Fletcher leads the crusade to ensure that families are kept together and are empowered to self-sufficiency throughout every step of their journey. As of June 2024, NOWCS is proud to announce the purchase of a Mid-City New Orleans facility that will become the new home of the Shelter. Formerly the Lucky Inn Hotel, the facility allows NOWCS to double its capacity, with important features like bedrooms with private bathrooms, a large multipurpose space for programming, a better layout, office spaces, and the opportunity to build equity at a facility ideally situated close to public transit. These amenities allow NOWCS to provide more opportunities to more families than ever before.
