On the chilly evening of Thursday, January 8, Renaissance Publishing LLC pulled out all the stops in celebration of St. Charles Avenue magazine’s re-launch issue. Unveiling a new look and a more compact size, the city’s go-to magazine for all things philanthropic received rave reviews at the debut soiree, held at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. Executive Editor Bev Church gave a warm welcome to guests, who were overflowing from the hotel’s French Quarter Bar. The fun-filled evening featured an open bar, where the champagne seemed in endless supply, and a signature cocktail competition in honor of Jeremy Davenport’s new lounge. Davenport himself provided some of the evening’s musical entertaining, as did local jazz icon and fellow January cover boy Irvin Mayfield. More than 300 partygoers helped contribute to the evening’s true cause: raising much-needed funds for the New Orleans Public Library Foundation, of which Mayfield serves as chairman of the board. Guests were invited to sign up for library cards throughout the night, and select lucky revelers won fabulous raffle prizes to boot. Junior League of New Orleans President Leah Engelhardt, who also graced the January cover, was on hand to lend support, as was fellow cover maven and National Council for Jewish Women President Ina Davis.
