Delgado Foundation Hosts Celebrity Roast of Newell Normand

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – The Delgado Community College Foundation will host the 2025 Roast of the Town fundraising event on Friday, March 28, at the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel, 500 Canal St. This annual fundraiser supports ongoing student success at Delgado by providing scholarships, support services and other programs for students. 

This year’s roastee is Newell Normand, radio talk show host and former Jefferson Parish Sheriff.

Distinguished roasters include:

  • The Honorable Joseph P. Lopinto III, Sheriff, Jefferson Parish 
  • The Honorable J. P. Morrell, Councilman at Large, New Orleans City Council 
  • Diane Newman, WWL Brand Manager 
  • The Honorable Dr. Ronal Serpas, Professor, Loyola University Former Chief of Police, Orleans Parish 
  • The Honorable Cynthia Lee Sheng, Jefferson Parish President

Michael Hecht, GNO, Inc. President and CEO, will be the Master of Ceremonies.

The Roast of the Town is Delgado’s biggest annual fundraising event. Lee Giorgio, chairman of the Delgado Foundation, noted that “this event funds scholarships that often make the difference in a student’s ability to get an education. Support for the Delgado Foundation helps transform people’s lives and puts highly qualified graduates into the workforce.”
