Dining for a Cure

Guests dressed in “Summer Swank” attire gathered on August 9 for wining and dining to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure, New Orleans Affiliate.
With 200 attendees – including special guests such as Regan Forrester,
Drs. Oliver and Sissy Sartor, ReRe Avegno, Martin and Mimi Peake, John and Betty Hope, Phyllis Taylor, Shelia Davlin and J. Michael Brown – the Summer Cure Chefs Wine Dinner raised more than $65,000.

“Greg Reggio was wonderful and very entertaining as the night’s Master of Ceremonies,” Komen New Orleans Affiliate Executive Director, Lisa W. Plunkett, says.

The evenings’ success is also thanks in part to event chairs Angele Darling, Patricia Denechaud and Kristi Post, and Joe Briand, event coordinator.

The evening’s highlight was certainly the menu. Guests dined on a sumptuous bevy of delights from some of New Orleans’ best chefs, with dishes such as: Roasted Pork Belly with White Bean Pistou by Donald Link of Herbsaint; Crabmeat Crusted Sea Bass with Roasted Heirloom Tomatoes, Sweet Pepper Coulis and Herb Oil by Kim Kringlie of Dakota; and Herb Braised Peaches in a Crème Fraiche Panna Cotta topped with Hibiscus Gelee, Roasted Peach Upside-down Cake with Citrus Crème, Peach Float Vanilla Fizzy Ice Cream and White Peach Pop by Tariq Hanna of Sucré.
Additional fundraising festivities included a silent auction, with items for bid such as art by Pamela Steuart and Lynette Collins Walker, and a Chefs Dinner by Susan Spicer of Bayona, as well as a live auction of dinner packages by participating chefs.
