Disco to Save Lives

The Legacy Donor Foundation hosts its annual Soul Revival benefit with a ’70s twist.

More than 100,000 people nationwide, and more than 1,800 people in Louisiana, currently await life-saving organ transplants, while an average
of 20 people nationwide die every day waiting for an organ transplant. Just one organ donor can save up to nine lives.

With that in mind, the Legacy Donor Foundation, which recently celebrated its 10th anniversary, is dedicated to promoting awareness and education of organ donation.

On March 28, the foundation’s annual gala, “Soul Revival” took on a disco theme at the Old Metairie home of Danielle Kavanagh. Chaired by Sarah Louise and Scott Ham and Elise and Kevin Kiser, the party encouraged the 700-plus guests to sport their “grooviest” attire while raising money for an often-overlooked cause. Mardi Gras Productions provided the colorful decorations, bringing guests back to decades past.

The Hilton New Orleans provided delightful cuisine; and guests danced to music by BRW, Shades of Praise, Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band and Wild Mohicans. Event sponsors included (but are not limited to) Lamar Advertising, Renaissance Publishing, Tulane Medical Center, Whitney Bank, Harper Family Foundation and Mitchiner Gittinger Family Foundation.
