What do you get when a furniture wholesaler from Minnesota and a retailer and designer from Mississippi create a side hustle? A monthly furniture pop-up sale called Textures Warehouse. Owners and business partners Kim Martin (wholesaler) and Christopher Robinson (J. Allan store owner) set out to create a casual, yet festive shopping experience filled with eclectic pieces from industry markets in High Point, North Carolina; Las Vegas and others. The weekend-long sales, or as they like to call them “shopping experiences,” offer quality furniture and home accessories to the public at discounted prices – think cream-colored sectionals, whitewashed sideboards and plenty of vibrant artwork. So, how are they able to discount everything? Low overhead. Selling directly from their warehouse on select days of the month keeps costs down. Instead of dealing with the day-to-day hassles of retail, the owners spend most of their time sourcing pieces for the next show and working hard at their other day jobs.

This month’s sale will be this Saturday and Sunday (Feb. 24 and 25) from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at their Elmwood area warehouse (#4924 Bloomfield St.). The owners advise you to frequently check their Instagram page for preview pictures of the merchandise. And if something special catches your eye, go ahead and get there early. Customers often line up around 8 a.m. as it’s first come, first served. Everything is sold right off the floor (no custom ordering unique styles or colors). It’s grab and go! They do offer an additional pick-up date if you can’t haul your loot away on the spot. But regulars arrive prepared in an SUV or a friend’s borrowed truck. Just in case. It’s all part of the fun of the “shopping experience!”
