Established in 2003 by Don Wise, Louisiana Custom Closets attracts an upscale clientele impressed by the company’s ability to design closets to fit their needs. Wise is no stranger to closet design or the business, as he started off in 1994 with a major closet company selling and designing closets. Today, his store is a showroom and office on the Northshore with three registered designers prepared to meet customers’ demands.
Wise says the first thing he discusses with potential clients is how they envision their closet. He asks them questions such as “How many pairs of shoes will go in there?” and checks for details such as how much hanging space will be required. Then, Wise and his clients come up with a budget and a design—and a custom closet is the end result.
What trends in closet design have you noticed?
Customers who have had custom closets in previous homes are now expecting the same in their new houses. It’s becoming a necessity rather than a luxury. Also, homeowners are requesting drawers and other folding items be stored in closets
for less furniture in master bedrooms.
What is the best way to organize a small closet space?
To organize a small space, the first thing to determine is what’s going in there—then design every cubic inch to accommodate those items.
