Since it was founded in 1999, Dress for Success New Orleans has transformed women’s lives, be it through empowering them for a professional career, economic independence or life skills.
On March 6, the organization combined fashion with fundraising when it hosted its Styled for Success Luncheon at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans Hotel.
A welcome from Entergy Executive Vice President and CFO Kimberly Fontan kicked off the event, which WDSU’s Gina Swanson emceed.
Honors went out to Volunteers of the Year Kristin Dickinson and Elise Glasman, as well as Clients of the Year Shametria Gonzales, Nantrell Malveo, Shahidah Rahman and Leila Waller.
The highlight of the afternoon was the Empowerment Runway Show, sponsored by Entergy and coordinated by Aimée Gowland, which featured DFSNO clients who donned fashions from Angelique, Basics Underneath, Chatta Box, Em’s, Febe, Joseph, Mango/Lakeside Shopping Center, Pronto, Lucy Rose, Rubensteins, Under Goodies and Swoon.
“The Styled for Success Luncheon is more than a celebration of fashion — it’s a celebration of confidence, resilience and opportunity. Every woman deserves the chance to walk into an interview, workplace and her future feeling empowered,” said DFSNO Executive Director Dinah Campbell.
Luncheon co-chairs were Tanzania Jones and Dr. Clarie Melancon.
Fun Fact: For the fashion show, eight to 10 Entergy lineman escorted the DFSNO clients down the runway.
