NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Festive Easter brunches and dinners are popping up throughout New Orleans.
Mister Mao is continuing its Guest Chef Charity Series with a very special Tex Mex Easter BBQ Supper Club on Sunday, April 17, from 5-8 P.M. That evening, Mister Mao Chef/Owner Sophina Uong will team up with guest Chef Austin Lane of local Mexican street food hotspot El Cucuy and oyster farmer Nathan Herring of sustainable oyster farm Bright Side Oysters to create a celebratory Easter dinner to benefit Trampled Rose Rescue – a nonprofit organization whose mission is to assist with the rehabilitation of orphaned, injured and abandoned dogs. Priced at $100 per person (excluding tax and gratuity), the four-course dinner includes two drinks including a Chocolate Bunny Tiki cocktail made with mezcal, over-proof rum, coconut and lime, served inside a hollow chocolate bunny (additional beverages are available for purchase). Guests can enjoy dishes created by Houston native Chef Austin Lane, along with “inauthentic” globally-inspired eats from Chef Uong. Supper highlights include Char Grilled Bright Side Oysters; Coctel de Camaron y Pulpo; Taki Locos – clamato, chamoy, Valentina hot sauce; Whole Smoked Lamb + Fixins’; and a decadent ice cream creation by Sam Caruso of Laozi ice Cream.
In addition to the Easter Supper Club, Mister Mao will open for Easter Brunch on Sunday, April 17, from 11 A.M. – 2 P.M. The menu features an array of creative dishes such as Kashmiri Hot Chicken Benedict served on a Hawaiian pineapple roll with a Vidalia onion milk gravy and sunny eggs; Braised Pork Chilaquiles; Dumplings and Jelly Doughnuts with hibiscus and blood orange sugar.
