Almost everyone looks forward to autumn in New Orleans. As the heat breaks, it’s a time to open the windows, get some fresh (and less humid) air and enjoy the waning daylight of fall. It’s a much-needed pause before the entertaining sprint from Thanksgiving through the December holidays and on to Carnival.
Our autumn issue has plenty of ways to take a moment and enjoy your home to its fullest, plus plenty of inspiration for new projects, advice from the pros and more.
Our cover feature highlights a “new build” that caught our eye for its attention to custom millwork, craftsmanship and classic design that transform a project from paper to a fully realized home for a vibrant local family.
Fans of restoration projects will get lots of insight into renovation, New Orleans-style, with a feature home with innovative design paired alongside existing great old-home features. We think it’s a match made in style heaven.
Our Design Masters class of 2026 are indeed masters of style and study, as well as perseverance, dedication to their crafts and a lot of practical know-how. This year we feature a design visionary, master of millwork, an A+ architect, a design wonder and a practitioner of preservation at the highest levels. We are excited to honor each one and learn more about what makes them excited about design in New Orleans.
Alongside our Design Masters, we heard your votes with your favorites across a variety of home professionals with our Best of Home winners list. Find out who made the list of go-to home resources across the area.
Finally, as always, we have more ways to enjoy life in the city, make your house a home, solve some everyday problems, along with a recipe and style solutions for the season.
So, enjoy the weather and the pause while you can. Autumn is the best time to reset, renew and refresh.
