COVINGTON, La (press release) – Gloriette in the Southern Hotel now offers lunch on Thursdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. and breakfast Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. The local and French-inspired menus reflect the popular dinner menu that Chef Steven Marsella has been serving since opening in 2022.
The lunch menu begins with appetizers such as Blue Crab Gumbo with green onion potato salad, Roasted Beet Salad with warm goat cheese croute and spiced pecans, and Ratatouille Tartinette with tapenade and whole wheat sourdough. Chef Steven offers several sandwiches: a Gloriette Cheeseburger made with a short rib and brisket blend; Toasted Jambon-Beurre Paris, available on half or whole demi baguette; and a Gloriette Cuban. Lunch entrees range from Roast Chicken Cobb Salad and Blackened Tuna Niçoise Salad to Moules Frites, Blue Crab Tagliatelle, and Flounder Grenobloise with lump crab, brioche croutons, and Brabant potatoes. The dessert menu reads like a decadent French menu, including classics such as Dark Chocolate Tart and Warm Apple Galette alongside Chef Steven’s creations: Earl Grey Crème Brulee and Lemon Crème Fraiche Cheesecake. Ice cream, gelato, sorbets, and Dark Chocolate Mousse with crème Chantilly and a Grand Marnier tea cookie are also offered.
The breakfast menu resembles a French café with selections such as croissants, freshly baked muffins, and granola parfaits. Entrees include Jambon de Paris Omelet, Eggs Benedict, Smoked Salmon Avocado Toast, Brioche French Toast, The Gloriette Breakfast with two eggs, brie cheese grits, cream biscuit, and smoked bacon or apple chicken sausage.
