Jennifer Weishaupt believes brunch without exciting recipes, gracious hospitality and eye-opening cocktails is just a sad breakfast. She, along with husband Eric, have brought that passion to each Ruby Slipper Café restaurant since opening their original Mid-City location in 2008.

Born out of the desire to create a welcoming space for her community as they returned to rebuild their neighborhood, Ruby Slipper became a hit with hours-long waitlists every weekend. Realizing they could share this same sense of community with more neighborhoods by creating lively experiences and preparing scrumptious food, Weishaupt utilized her engineering mindset and management skills to expand the business.

The original cozy storefront has now expanded to two brands, Ruby Slipper and Ruby Sunshine with 18 locations in five states and growing.

“I am proud of our New Orleans roots, and we love bringing the experience of dining in this great city to other parts of the US,” says Weishaupt. The brand is excited to announce two new Ruby Sunshine locations opening later this year in Charleston, SC, and a second restaurant in Birmingham, AL.
