The New Orleans, Louisiana Neuroendocrine Tumor Specialists (NOLANETS) is now the largest multidisciplinary, multi-state, academic subspecialty program in the country for patients with neuroendocrine cancers. Their mission is to generate overlapping infrastructure and resources to maximize outcomes for patients with neuroendocrine cancer. As a world-class clinical program, NOLANETS is also a leader in translational research and clinical trials, leading collaborations with the LSU/LCMC Cancer Center and national/international experts to improve our understanding of what causes neuroendocrine cancers and the unique risk factors that are relevant to Louisiana.
NOLANETS Research Director Dr. James Skill, PhD., and his colleagues are actively developing new targets for treatment and mentoring the next generation of physician-scientists interested in these rare cancers; developing pipelines to access for new patients across the Gulf South. Clinical Trial Director Dr. Yve Mattison, PhD. and the clinical team are bringing cutting-edge treatment options to patients by collaborating with companies bringing new drugs to market. Dr. Mary Hobbs Maluccio, MD, leads the multidisciplinary team in its critical mission to address barriers to access highly specialized treatment and improve outcomes for the most vulnerable cancer patients.
