For more than 40 years, START Corporation’s vision has been to create a seamless system of care for people that builds healthier communities in Louisiana.
Founded in 1984, START now operates in 18 parishes, providing integrated primary care and behavioral health services to individuals and families regardless of their ability to pay.
In New Orleans, START’s Community Health Center in Central City offers a broad range of services under one roof, including HIV treatment and prevention, substance use treatment, and Medicaid enrollment assistance. The work extends beyond the clinic through services for veterans, a youth drop-in center, community-based mental health support, and rapid rehousing for individuals facing some of the city’s toughest barriers to stability.
In 2027, START will open a full-service Community Health Center in the French Quarter, expanding access to include dental care and pharmacy support. The new site represents an $11 million investment in the New Orleans community and reflects the organization’s commitment to making coordinated, community-based care more accessible. In a city where health, housing, and stability are deeply connected, START’s work provides New Orleanians with the care and support they need to achieve long-term stability.
