The National Multiple Sclerosis Society hosted its fifth annual Renaissance Festival on November 19 at the Renaissance Arts Hotel. Patrons enjoyed delectable cuisine as they admired the Renaissance
artwork on display, and the Bucktown All-Stars played rhythm and blues.
The live and silent auction featured a seven-night stay in Steamboat Springs, Colo., as well as artwork and annual theatre passes. Co-chairs of the event were Jane Heidingsfelder, Erica Reiss and Mark Preston.
The Renaissance Festival, sponsored by People’s Health, has raised more than $650,000 over the past five years to help more than 4,000 Louisianians with multiple sclerosis. Heidingsfelder said, “We mobilize people and resources to drive research for a cure and to address the challenges of everyone affected by MS.”
Approximately 400,000 Americans have MS, a disease that affects the brain and spinal cord and is often disabling.
The National MS Society funds research, supports professional education and provides programs and services for people with MS and their families.
