Fashion and Frolicking

More than 1,100 guests supported the Ladies Leukemia League 2011 “Fête de Noel” fundraiser on Wednesday, December 14, at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside Grand Ballroom. The event was made possible by co-chairs Kathy Pastorek and Cathy Wattigney. WWL-TV’s Angela Hill served as Mistress of Ceremonies. Grand recipients included Bryant G. Darnay Ph.D., Xiao-Tong Song Ph.D., Yu-Ping Wang and M. James You M.D., Ph.D.

Attendants’ appetites were appeased with a starter of sundried tomato and candied pecan spinach salad, followed by a main dish of beef tenderloin over Roquefort potatoes and a medley of squash, zucchini and carrots. For dessert, the divas dined on flourless chocolate cake, Linzer torte and peppermint cheesecake.

The event featured a fashion show that included over 100 designs provided by Dillard’s and appearances by Mr. Bingle and Santa Claus. Guests also had the opportunity to participate in a raffle that included items such as a Coach purse, an NFL Saints football, an Aucoin Hart necklace and even a trip to New York City.

Over the span of 40 years, “Fête de Noel” has donated over $2.8 million dollars to Leukemia research grants.
