NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Faubourg Brewing Co., the oldest operating brewery in New Orleans, was awarded a Gold Medal at the 2021 U.S. Open Beer Championship, one of the most prestigious beer competitions in the USA. The championship recognizes the most exceptional craft beers produced across the globe. Gold, silver, and bronze medals were awarded on September 6 at the U.S. Open Event Center in Oxford, Ohio. Faubourg Brewing was the sole New Orleans-based brewery to score a Gold Medal in any category.
More than 8,000 beers representing over 140 different styles from hundreds of breweries across the nation were blind taste-tested by an esteemed panel of judges at this year’s championship.
Faubourg Brewing Co.’s Golden Cypress Wheat Ale was awarded the top prize of Gold Medal in the highly competitive Belgian / Witbier category.
“We’re incredibly proud to bring home the gold for exceptional craft brewing to New Orleans,” said Jason Daniel, Vice President of Marketing at Faubourg Brewing Co. “The re-branding of our historic brewery to Faubourg backed by a state-of-the-art new brewery in New Orleans East and truly talented brewing teams have set the foundations for Faubourg to be able to create top quality, award-winning brews for craft lovers to enjoy across New Orleans and the region.”
Consistently a guest favorite and a top seller at the brewery’s taproom, Golden Cypress Wheat Ale, is a crisp Belgian-style brew that is both bright and full flavored. Crafted from lightly kilned pilsner malt combined with soft white wheat and a touch of malted oats, Golden Cypress is incredibly balanced and smooth. With zesty, sweet orange aromas and hints of spicy coriander, this slow brewed ale has a beautiful golden color that beckons to be enjoyed anytime.
Faubourg Brewing Co. beers are available for purchase on draft, in single 12 oz. cans, and in 12 oz. six packs at fine retailers across Louisiana and the Gulf South and at the brewery in New Orleans East.
