Filming in Louisiana: "Twilight," a Miley Cyrus film and HBO's "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter"

Louisiana is continuing its reputation as the southern Hollywood; Baton Rouge is the current filming location for the latest installment of the Twilight series – Breaking Dawn – as well as Peter Berg’s Battleship, starring Liam Neeson. New Orleans is playing host to Miley Cyrus’ latest film, So Undercover, as well as Nicholas Sparks’ The Lucky One, starring Zac Efron, and Killer Joe, starring Matthew McConaughy and Emile Hirsch.

Additionally, four projects are set to begin filming in New Orleans in January: HBO’s latest series, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, possibly starring Eric Bana; Contraband, starring Mark Wahlberg and Kate Beckinsale; Pirhana 2; and The Looper, starring Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Season 2 of Treme is also set to return to filming in New Orleans in 2011.

Several big-budget productions have filmed in Louisiana in the past year, including Jonah Hex, Green Lantern and Secretariat. The trend is great for the local economy, but also for celebrity sightings.
