NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Finn McCool’s Irish Pub is hosting a press conference and celebratory event on Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 3.30 p.m., to announce reaching a milestone of $1,000,000 in fundraising efforts over the past decade in support of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
The event will take place at Finn McCool’s, 3701 Banks St. in New Orleans, and will feature some of our biggest supporters and fundraisers from the last ten years. The media and community are invited to attend. St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer- and donor-powered charity committed to supporting research to find cures for childhood cancers and to give survivors long and healthy lives. It makes generous contributions to fund cutting edge research studies at pediatric cancer centers across the state, including Ochsner Medical Center, Children’s Hospital, and Tulane Medical Center.
Finn McCool’s has hosted a St. Baldrick’s fundraising event annually for the past 10 years. Local celebrities, including sports figures, well-known dance troupes, and the Rolling Elvi participate each year, along with a host of volunteers, which include stylists from across the city and those who attend to have their heads shaved.
“Shavees” sign up as individuals or groups with the goal to raise as much money as possible for the cause. Proceeds from the pub’s last event held on March 23, 2019, totaled $137,526 and exceeded the ten-year milestone mark.
This year’s St. Baldrick’s event is scheduled for March 21.
