The Women’s Guild of the New Orleans Opera Association hosted a “Great Gatsby” Opera Ball on Saturday, April 10 at the Roosevelt Hotel. The “Speak Easy” Patron Party began at 6:30 p.m. in the Crescent City Ballroom and featured The Yat Pack with special guest, Gennifer Flowers. The main event kicked off at 8 p.m., with a black-tie or “Twenties Glamour and Gangsta” theme. The crowd cut-a-rug to the New Leviathan Oriental Fox-Trot Orchestra and Swingaroux, followed by live and silent auctions.

This year’s chairs, Jude Swenson, Yvonne Coe, Jeanne Charlebois and Holli Ensz, were proud to present the event’s honorees: Mr. and Mrs. Murray Valene. This year’s featured artist was Charles H. Reinike III, whose work was unveiled at a special Benefactor Party on March 7.

Proceeds went to the continuation of New Orleans Opera performances and programs for opera education
in all grades.
