On April 18, guests gathered at Emeril’s Restaurant to raise money for LSUHSC’s Department of Psychiatry for the “Emeril’s Dinner” fundraiser. The brainchild of Chef Emeril Lagasse 15 years ago, the annual event benefits at-risk children and families in the community with mental health services, including trauma-focused needs and therapeutic services.

Cocktail hour featured a performance by Irvin Mayfield as well as hors d’oeuvres, served at 5:30 p.m., including Emeril’s signature barbecue shrimp and Chipotle roasted Kumamoto oysters. The four-course dinner that followed included wine pairings, coriander seared Yellowfin tuna, pan roasted Louisiana Black Drum and a decadent dessert of Ponchatoula strawberry cheesecake with an almond-graham cracker crust.

Co-chairs Ann Fuselier, Peggy Laborde, John Bullard and LSUHSC Department of Psychiatry head Dr. Howard Osofsky presented this year’s honorary chairman, Betsy Nalty, “who has given so much to our children, culture, education and the rebuilding of New Orleans,” says Fuselier.

Tiffany Adler of Adler’s donated mint julep cups as favors, while Danny Conwill offered his home for an Emeril’s dinner as an auction item. Table decorations and orchid centerpieces were created by Glenn Vesh of Perfect Presentations.
