The Touro Infirmary Foundation introduced “The Big Easy to The Big Apple” on October 10, via a trio of musical performances and dinner at hot-spot The Roosevelt New Orleans. Proceeds from the first Here for Life Gala will go toward a new cancer treatment center at Touro Infirmary.
To start off the evening, patrons mingled in the one-and-only Blue Room, where classical guitarist Javier Orlando welcomed all to the musical journey. Following this appetizer, the Roosevelt Ballroom was transformed for the night into a New York cabaret with entertainment by Tony Award winner and Broadway superstar Brian Stokes Mitchell.
Johnny Sketch & the Dirty Notes and DJ Beverly Skillz took it from there: Guests were partying on their feet into the late hours.
Honorary Chair of the evening Merryl Israel Aron celebrated with Chair Nancy Bissinger. Committee members included Linda Baum, Caroline Drumm and Margaret Epstein. With such a successful premier gala, charitable New Orleanians have another stupendous event to look forward to in the years to come. Here for Life 2010 will no doubt be another fiesta of top-notch entertainment in the city of the rolling good times.
