FORESTival: A Celebration of Art and Nature at A Studio in the Woods Nov. 11

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – A Studio in the Woods is pleased to announce that the 13th annual FORESTival: A Celebration of Art and Nature will be held on Saturday, November 11, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Set in the lush bottomland hardwood forest of A Studio in the Woods, FORESTival is fun for the whole family and feels a world away while still being within the city limits. 

  • Music will be provided by RAM Haiti, Brass-A-Holics, and former Rising Resident Andrina Turenne.
  • Artistic presentations by residents and guest artists, including a beading workshop with Spy Boy Walter Sandifer of the Beautiful Creole Apache, a “Wildlife Organ” and puppet show about climate change and Mardi Gras with Quintron and Miss Pussycat, and more! 
  • Environmental Justice Hub featuring Concerned Citizens of St. John, Rise St. James, and artist Ida Aronson.
  • Food and drink by Crescent City Burgers, Eli’s Kitchen, We Dat Chicken & Shrimp, and Big O’s Pops.
  • Art activities for kids and kids-at-heart alike, including festival favorite Build a Clay Forest, water literacy activity with Ripple Effect, and sand fun with Glass Half Full and ReCoast. 
  • Walks in the woods with Tulane University scientists. 
  • Silent auction of one-of-a-kind art objects and experiences.

“FORESTival is a party with an environmental purpose, and we invite everyone to explore their connections to both our human community and the natural world, ” said Managing Director Ama Rogan.

FORESTival is the only time during the year that A Studio in the Woods is open to the public at large and this signature celebration of art and nature is not to be missed. Suggested donation is $15 per adult, kids free. All proceeds support the programming of A Studio in the Woods. Located on the Westbank in Lower Algiers at 13401 Patterson Road, New Orleans LA, 70131 – about a 25-minute drive from downtown New Orleans.
