On August 23, the Louisiana Children’s Museum was transformed into a lush, colorful paradise for its 10th annual CHAIRish the Children benefit.
Co-chairs Melissa Scandaliato and Elizabeth LeBlanc organized an event for over 400 guests who were able to relive the magic of childhood with the Never Land-themed gala and the Pixie Hollow patron party (which featured a cooking demonstration by Galatoire’s chef Brian Landry).
Partygoers bid on jewelry, photography, original artwork, theater tickets, dinners, vacation packages and more, but perhaps the highlight of the party were the decorated chairs that were up for auction. Several local artists and schoolchildren donated their time and talents to create beautiful hand-painted and hand-decorated, one-of-a-kind chairs.
Sponsoring the event were Capital One, AT&T, Schlumberger, J. Edgar Monroe Foundation, Harrah’s New Orleans Casino, Irwin Fritchie, Lee Michaels Fine Jewelry, Toler Foundation, PortsAmerica and Whitney National Bank.
By the end of the evening, the museum had raised over $135,000 for its programs and a good time was had by all.
