“Free Family Day: Wonders of the Wetlands” to Take Place at Ogden Museum of Southern Art on Saturday, March 27

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – On Saturday, March 27 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Ogden Museum of Southern Art will host the event, Free Family Day: Wonders of the Wetlands, featuring free museum admission, an in-person scavenger hunt, plus online programming inspired by The Guardian of the Wetlands: Works by John Taylor, an exhibition presented in collaboration with the National Wildlife Federation.

From 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., guests of all ages can explore the work of John Taylor in The Guardian of the Wetlands, as well as work by other artists who are passionate about the environment. A scavenger hunt will be available for families in the museum, and prizes such as museum memberships will be awarded on Monday, March 29.

Also available throughout the day is online content such as wetland coloring sheets, art activities inspired by nature and lesson plans exploring John Taylor’s artwork. Online attendees can watch artist interviews and participate in an interactive, project-based activity by the Pontchartrain Conservancy. All online programming will be available free at ogdenmuseum.org.

Free Family Day art bags are available for pick-up now at Ogden Museum while supplies last. Art bags include an art activity instruction booklet, coloring sheets and supplies. Additional bag distribution will take place on March 27 from 10 a.m. to noon in the parking lot of the Neighborhood Empowerment Network Association (NENA), 5701 St. Claude Ave.

Support for the Free Family Day art bags was provided by Holy Cross Neighborhood Association, Lower 9th Ward Neighborhood Association and NENA.

Online reservations are required prior to visiting Ogden Museum on Saturday, March 27, and reservations can be made at ogdenmuseum.org. Masks and social distancing are also required.
