Free Summer Film Series at the Orpheum

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – The New Orleans Film Society (NOFS) announced the Summer Film Series at the Orpheum Theater as an audience warm-up to its 30th New Orleans Film Festival (October 16-23, 2019). Admissions are FREE and open to the public, with free popcorn offered to New Orleans Film Society members to celebrate the Film Society’s 30 years of programming. See press release attached.
The series will kick off on Thursday, June 27th with 2011 New Orleans Film Festival jury award winning documentary, Chasing Dreams: A Leah Chase Story, in memory of our community’s recent loss of the legendary Chef Leah Chase. This short documentary will be immediately followed by a screening of Ella Brennan: Commanding the Table, a documentary on another late New Orleans culinary legend which debuted at New Orleans Film Festival in 2016
The next three screenings of the series are Bayou Maharajah on July 10th; Girls Trip on July 25th; and Down by Law on August 8th.
In addition to the Summer Film Series at the Orpheum, the New Orleans Film Society announced an exclusive member-only screening of The Last Black Man in San Francisco on Wednesday, June 19th, at 7:30 PM at the Prytania Theatre.
