NEW ORLEANS (press release) – In recognition of the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, United Way of Southeast Louisiana and Verizon are partnering to host a series of free community disaster preparedness workshops. These workshops, says organizers, aim to equip residents with the tools and knowledge they need to protect their families, homes and finances ahead of future storms and emergencies.
Attendees will also receive a free emergency preparedness that includes a hand-held battery-operated fan, whistle light/keychain, “Ouch Pouch” first aid kit, KeepDry waterproof bag and an emergency hand-crank radio.
