French Quarter Fest Turns 35

This year French Quarter Fest returns for its 35th year.  The festival has held true to its roots in the music of the region and put together a remarkable lineup.  Below you can find a daily breakdown with recommended performances.  Mason Ruffner on Saturday should be of exceptional quality.  This year also sees appearances by both Magnetic Ear (Friday) and Astral Project (Sunday), as well as the Raw Oyster Cult (Sunday).  Check out this great track from Cha Wa (Friday) on New Orleans Live.

2:10 p.m. – Sweet Crude at the Abita Stage

5:20 p.m. – The Dirty Dozen Brass Band at the Abita Stage

Tonight, you can catch Cha Wa at d.b.a. Tomorrow the Pinettes Brass Band are at Bullet’s.  Saturday, Joe Brown and Walter Wolfman Washington are at Dos Jefes. Sunday night, Ivy Lab will be at the Dragon’s Den and the James Hunter Six at Santos Bar. Wednesday, Less Than Jake will head into the House of Blues.
