Summer is officially over, although it may not feel like it outside. School is back in session, beach and swimming accessories have been put away, and (love it or hate it) pumpkin spice is back on the menu.
This means that the best season for enjoying New Orleans is almost here. Fall is a great time to get outside and walk, sit on your front porch and enjoy your neighborhood again. From the Bywater to Uptown, the Lower Garden District and Treme, New Orleans’ iconic neighborhoods, with their diverse personalities, come together to make this city better than all the rest.
In this issue, we highlight one of the most walkable, enjoyable, personality-filled neighborhoods, Bayou St. John. Chock full of great places to eat, drink and have fun, the historic are along the bayou is home to artists, chefs, musicians and people who love community. It’s our love letter to a great place with great people.
Back to school time also brings challenges for parents across the board, but especially for working moms. Often referred to the “motherhood penalty,” the unique challenges that moms face as they try to balance work/school/parenthood/life can be overwhelming. We have a look at some of the ways local moms are coping and thriving.
As always, we also have plenty of ways to enjoy the city, from dining news, music, recipes, style and more.
Time to put away those dog days of summer and relax into a new season.
