NEW ORLEANS (press release) – On Jan. 6, 2021, Funky Uptown Krewe is changing it up a bit due to uncertainty of the upcoming Mardi Gras season! Twelfth Night will look a little different this year as the Krewe has to decided not to take its annual streetcar ride in 2021.
However, in the spirit and tradition of Mardi Gras, Funky Uptown Krewe will still responsibly revel on Twelfth Night. Instead kicking off Carnival season behind the Phunny Phorty Phellows on the St. Charles streetcar line, Funky Uptown Krewe will create a scavenger hunt to collect our signature throws, hand-decorated bedazzled vinyl records!
We encourage the community to participate in a responsible celebration of Twelfth Night and join Funky Uptown Krewe on Jan. 6, 2021 for our socially-distanced scavenger hunt along the St. Charles streetcar line. Please follow our Instagram account for hints on the locations of our signature throws! We will begin releasing hints on the afternoon of Twelfth Night, Jan. 6, 2021.
Funky Uptown Krewe’s goal is to encourage revelers to responsibly flock to the St. Charles streetcar line on Twelfth Night and provide some small boost to local businesses! The Krewe is 100 percent volunteer-run and more than 90 percent of every dollar spent by the Krewe is spent locally!
