On Aug. 19, East Jefferson General Hospital held its 35th anniversary gala, “Jewels of Jefferson,” at the Hotel InterContinental. At the sold-out soirée, guests were escorted down a red carpet to the ballroom, where they socialized and sipped cocktails while the Joe Simon Trio performed. Afterwards, dinner was served and the menu included hors d’oeuvres, poached salmon, beef Marchand de Vin and various side dishes, while the next musical guest—Jimmy Maxwell and his band performed. Gorgeous decorations were provided by the Plant Gallery and CHL Linens.
Dr. Gus Colon served as the master of ceremonies and partygoers celebrated the achievements of the hospital’s staff—many of whom had been working for the hospital since it was founded 35 years ago. The honorees were Drs. Fortune Dugan, Charles Eckert, C. Edward Foti, Andy Leonard, Anthony Scalco, Anthony Scardino, Henry Threefoot, George Welch and Isadore Yager.
The hospital also unveiled its plan to rename its concert hall the “Crawford Hall” to honor Jerry Crawford, who served on the hospital’s board of directors for 17 years.
Since the gala was also a fund-raiser for the hospital—which is
not-for-profit—the party also featured auction items such as airline
tickets and jewelry from Ramsey’s Jewelers and Hiller Jewelry.
