Get Into the Act!

Starlight, star very bright! The NOCCA Institute earns top marks for “Art & Soul 2008,” a successful fundraiser titled “Get into the act!” for the impressive arts conservatory. On Sunday, May 18, The Lupin Foundation led a list of generous donors who proudly supported on show-biz themed levels, from “Executive Producer” to “Broadway Bound.” Co-chairs of the night were Marion and Pepper Bright; Nan and Britt Galloway; and Allison and Ben Tiller. Auction Co-Chairs were Debbie Marx and Caroline Robert.

The triple threat event featured a Patron Party, Art & Soul Gala and Auction at the NOCCA campus. The Patron Party was hosted by Ovation TV, which is helping generate a buzz about NOCCA world-wide. A cocktail hour paired with hors d’oeuvres was set to the beautiful notes of the Delfeayo Marsalis Quartet. At the gala, guests treated themselves to the decadent buffet provided by Hilton New Orleans Riverside, complete with carving stations. Open bars were provided by Republic Beverage. An entertainment extravaganza commenced on two stages with Charmaine Neville Band, Leah Chase, Alvin Batiste Legacy Band, a performance by Broadway star Michael Cerveris and of course, NOCCA’s own Jazz Ensemble and Musical Theatre students. Hey big spender! A silent auction showcased enviable goodies including a handsome chocolate Labrador puppy! (If only one could bid into the future, on opening night tickets to performances of NOCCA’s blossoming leaders!)
The 35-year-old Institute plans to use proceeds to adequately support
the community with a larger campus for young talent to learn. Recently
introduced are Culinary Arts and middle school programs. Encore!
