There aren’t many visual symbols greater to the heart of New Orleans than the St. Louis Cathedral. Since the late 18th century, the cathedral has been at the heart of the city and a tourist destination for those of all faiths. The cathedral, as we know it today, offers a combination of Greek Revival, Gothic and Renaissance motifs that have garnered tens of thousands of tags across social media platforms.
While it’s stunning to look at, is it one of the best?
We were recently sent a list complied by My Cross jewelry company of the “Top 10 Wedding Churches Around the World.” We adore our beloved icon, and this list had us questioning the metrics.
When it came to the criteria, the company shared that the scores were pulled together with churches accepting bookings from parish and non-parish members, publicly advertised ceremony fees, TripAdvisor star ratings and review counts, Instagram activity using venue-specific wedding hashtags, and the number of nearby wedding photographers. A final score was calculated combining the accessibility, quality and support for couples planning their wedding at each location.

For this ranking, the St. Louis Cathedral ranked number 10 with a final score of 91 out of 100 – the highest scores being in reputation and social popularity.
No matter what anyone else says, or how popular, the cathedral is a great location to say your “I dos.”
