Gianna Hosts Feast of the Seven Fishes

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Chef de Cuisine Jared Heider of Gianna offers the traditional Italian-American Christmas Eve dinner, known as the “Feast of the Seven Fishes,” for two nights only in December: Wed., Dec. 14, and Wed., Dec. 21. Chef Jared’s dinner is available as a four-course communal, family-style meal.

“Feast is the keyword here,” said Chef Jared. “The Seven Fishes menu will satisfy every fish craving you have had this year. I can’t wait to share it.” The menu begins with three antipasti: baccala crustini, stuffed squid, and shrimp spiedini. The primi course includes squid ink spaghetti with bottarga and fruitti di mare linguini featuring squid, mussels, and clams. The Secondi course offerings are grilled scallops, swordfish involtini, and fire-roasted broccoli with bagna cauda. The signature Italian dessert, olive oil cake, is served last. Each course is paired with featured table wines to complement the menu.

Feast of the Seven Fishes stems from the Catholic tradition of abstinence, whereby Catholics would refrain from eating meat the night before Christmas Day. In exchange, they would honor the occasion without breaking tradition by feasting on fish instead.

A limited number of tickets, 50 per night, will be available for $120 per person, plus tax and gratuity.
