It was a commemoration of past and present at the annual Jewish Federation Campaign Celebration, held March 1 at the Hilton Hotel. Hosted by the Nelech and Premier Ben Gurion Society, the event’s special guest speaker was former Prime Minister of Israel Ehud Barak, who is also the most decorated soldier of Israel. Another highlight of the evening was the first annual Roger Bissinger Award, which is given to the person who emulates the giving spirit and leadership values of the late Mr. Bissinger. The honoree was Rosalie Cohen, who worked as a Hebrew translator during World War II and was the first female president of the Jewish Federation of Greater New Orleans.
After the program, guests enjoyed a dessert buffet with a chocolate fountain as the focal point. The funds raised at the celebration benefit the programs of the Jewish Federation. •
