Friendly signs lined the iron gates in front of Magnolia Mansion on Aug. 27 asking, “How do you do?”; “Are you in Nawlins, darlin’?” and “How’s your mama and ‘em?” It was a humorous way to greet partygoers at “Pink Ribbon Fling VIII,” a benefit for the Louisiana Breast Cancer Task Force.

Held in the late afternoon, the casual affair’s theme, “How do you do? Do!” was highlighted by beautiful flower arrangements by Ann Crane, who placed large pale pink and small deep pink roses throughout the mansion. Throughout the party, Gregg Stafford’s jazz band played with pianist Mizie Lizzardi for the 200-plus crowd.

Playing cards were sold as raffle tickets, and the prize included a weekend stay in Magnolia Mansion with dinner at Vizard’s on the Avenue, a round of golf, lunch at Audubon Park and a massage. The winner was Dr. Roy Weiner, who held a lucky ace of clubs. A silent auction also helped raise funds. Guests dined on food provided by the Mansion Mansion’s catering service and Pat O’Brien’s donated the libations.

Proceeds from the event fund breast cancer grants and projects throughout Louisiana.
