For almost 30 years, Judy at the Rink has been offering unique New Orleans gifts, such as home accessories and jewelry. Owner Kay Fausset chooses the store’s inventory, and though some pieces are by national artists, most are local – with New Orleans panache.
This Mother’s Day the store has several gifts for moms. The shop has a special offer on vases by renowned glassblower Simon Pearce – they are now $45 instead of $65. For a more casual gift, Fausset suggests the $20 “adorable, just-for-moms gift – the ‘Mom’s little vase,’” which is made for “the tiny wildflowers and dandelions picked by small, muddy hands and given with love.” Another gift for moms might be the bright polka dot glasses, available in various price ranges.
Judy at the Rink also maintains a bridal registry and provides gift-wrapping. The boutique is open Monday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

European antiques in New Orleans
Open for business since 2000, Dop Antiques specializes in European antiques and reproductions. Dutch owner Michiel Dop has an extensive network in Europe with selectors in France and Belgium. For the first eight years of business, Dop Antiques did wholesale only, but it’s now open to the public.
Dop’s inventory is ever-changing, with architectural pieces, furniture, lighting and decorative antiques for the home or for the garden. Antique specialists do antique paint finishes on furniture, as well as build furniture such as tables and bookcases from reclaimed cypress, pine and teak. They also find antiques in Europe for customers who are looking for something specific.
Customers can sign up for Dop Antiques emails to stay posted about upcoming sales. Dop Antiques is open Monday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
