NEW ORLEANS (press release) – For the second year in a row, the Glitter Box is partnering with the Music and Culture Coalition of New Orleans (MaCCNO) as part of the shop’s efforts to empower people of marginalized genders. Five percent of all sales throughout the months of May and June will go to supporting MaCCNO and its mission to organize, empower, and advocate with New Orleans’ musicians, artists, traditional culture bearers, and other members and allies of the cultural community.
“New Orleans artists and culture bearers are the soul of this city,” said Kate McCurdy, the shop manager. “We are eager to support MaCCNO in all their outstanding efforts and hopefully surpass last year’s $1,100 donation!”
Glitter Box partners with local and national nonprofits working to improve the lives of people of marginalized genders. Since opening in 2017, the shop has been honored to donate over $55,000 to nonprofits and community groups, such as MaCCNO.
MaCCNO is a locally-based non-profit that works at the intersection of culture, policy and social justice. They collaborate with, organize and empower the New Orleans music and cultural community to preserve and nurture the city’s culture, translate community vision into policy change and create positive economic impact.
