Saturday, June 21, approximately 200 scout-supporting guests, dressed in cocktail attire boogied to the sounds of Wanda Rouzan and A Taste of New Orleans, as well as Kermit Ruffins and the Barbecue Swingers at the Girl Scout Council of Southeast Louisiana’s Rhapsody in Green. The fundraiser benefited the Scouts and the 23 Louisiana parishes the group serves.
The soiree featured a silent auction and raffle, as well as delicious dishes including favorites such as fried eggplant sticks, grilled filet of tuna and marinated petit rib eyes, by New Orleans Catering.
Individuals honored at the event included State Representative Austin Badon Jr., Kenneth Carter Esq., Ron Guillory, Dr. Corey Hebert, William A. Oliver, Dr. William W. Sutton and Judge Melvin Zeno. All honorees were presented with a plaque and a Girl Scout membership.
Co-chairs Robert and Peggy Armstrong led the planning for the evening. Other special guests on-hand for the party included Master of Ceremonies Eric Paulsen, Mary Jane and John Becker and Chair of Girl Scout Louisiana East’s Board of Directors Jacquelyn Daniels. Girl Scout alumnae and presenter Nancy Parker and former Girl Scout Councilwoman Jackie Clarkson also joined the fun.
