Going Pink

Pink lights and pink floral linens decked the dining rooms of Galatoire’s on October 5th for a Breastoration event marking the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Speakers from the Center for Restorative Breast Surgery and the Cancer Association of Greater New Orleans' Chairman Wendy Vitter delivered remarks. Breastoration Co-Chairs were Kim Sport and Barbara Turner Windhorst. 145 patrons attended the event.

Galatoire’s delivered an expected exemplary four-course meal. The menu included a first course of shrimp and okra gumbo, a second course of sautéed Gulf fish du jour on a bed of sautéed spinach and a third course of filet bonne femme with bacon and caramelized onions; a caramel cup custard with fresh berries was served as the dessert course.

The Breastoration Fund was created by breast cancer survivors Sandy Keller, Eve Wallinga and Kim Sport to help breast cancer patients access treatment for breast reconstruction following surgical mastectomies. The survivor-founders placed the fund under the Cancer Association of Greater New Orleans, which has served 13 parishes in Southeast Louisiana since 1958.
