Guests donned their black-tie best on November 23, 2008 to support the March of Dimes at the 24th Annual Signature Chefs Gala. Presented by New Orleans Magazine, the event took place at the New Orleans Marriott, where more than 15 of the city’s finest chefs served up some of their restaurants’ most popular dishes all evening. A patron party earlier in the night led to a fun-filled second-line of chefs, plus event hosts Roop Raj and Camille Whitworth joined the procession into the ballroom. Celebrity Chef Volunteer Rahman Harper from the popular Hell’s Kitchen television series spiced up the event by bringing in some star-studded attraction. This year’s honorees were Sandra and Louis Wilson, presented with awards by Chef Chairman Tom Wolfe and Host Chef Mark Quitney of 5 Fifty 5 Restaurant. Other Signature Chefs included Ian Schnoebelen of Iris, Brian Landry of Galatoire’s, Bob Iacovone of Restaurant Cuvée, Philip Chan of Bambu and Dominique Macquet of Dominique. An amazing live auction featured, among many other fabulous prizes, tickets to the Sugar Bowl, dinner for eight prepared by Chef Harper, diamond jewelry and Signature Chefs preparing in-home dinner experiences for up to eight people. There were also raffle prizes and a silent auction. All proceeds from the evening’s festivities benefit the March of Dimes Foundation, which works tirelessly to ensure every baby has a healthy life, and also to find a cause and cure to premature births.
