As CEO of Thibodaux Regional Medical Center, Greg Stock is certainly a leader by title; but to Greg, being a leader means much more than being in charge. For Greg, a leader is someone who helps their organization prosper, grow, and fulfill its mission, objectives he takes seriously. Since becoming CEO in1990, Greg has fostered a culture of excellence at Thibodaux Regional that is firmly embedded in all aspects of care.
“We have sustained our patient satisfaction and engagement scores at the top of all hospitals in the United States. Getting to the top once is one thing; staying up there is another,” says Greg. “The latter clearly involves the achievement of excellence,” he says.
Thibodaux Regional’s culture of excellence is what distinguishes the hospital from its competitors, from its favorable employee morale, quality patient care, and positive clinical outcomes to its financial strength and stability. Hospital staff are committed to high standards and basic values with a focus on respect.
“People should expect to receive the best quality care possible at our institution. They should expect people to be kind to them and to speak to them in words that they understand concerning their care,” says Greg.
Serving nearly three decades as CEO, Greg has navigated well the countless and often tumultuous changes to the healthcare industry. As today’s changing methods of reimbursement continue to challenge healthcare providers, Thibodaux Regional continues to evolve and vision for the future, finding the advantages in adversity and learning how to adapt.
Passionate about wellness, Greg has personally taken on another big challenge: improving the overall health of the region Thibodaux Regional serves. To that end, Greg and his team envisioned and built the Wellness Center, which opened in 2016.
“I’m passionate about wellness—how we can avoid healthcare crises personally and nationally as a result of adopting better health habits,” he says. The Wellness Center engages the community through its programs and services and also works with area schools to combat childhood obesity.
“Being able to touch the lives of young people in that regard is both important and rewarding,” says Greg.
Inspired by co-workers and motivated by patients, Greg’s focus is always on the people in and around Thibodaux Regional. He works closely with The Haven, the American Cancer Society, and the United Way, while also volunteering his time as President of the region’s Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
