Gris-Gris and Saint John Host Summer Chef Series

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Sister restaurants Gris-Gris and Saint John are partnering up to host the 2023 Summer Chef Series – a month-long celebration of weekly four-course curated dinners (every Thursday in July, 6-9 pm) hosted by the chefs at Gris-Gris and Saint John (plus, a special sneak peek dinner from Darren Chabert, Chef de Cuisine of Julia Brown, Eric Cook’s third restaurant opening later this year in the new ARRIVE HOTEL in the Bywater). The dinners will take place at The Loft at Saint John, the restaurant’s third floor private events space. Tickets ($120++) to these exclusive dinners are available now on Resy.

  • July 6, 6-9 p.m.: The Lost Supper: A Mystery Dinner (Executive Chef Eric Cook + Saint John’s Chef de Cuisine Daren Porretto).
    • Chef Daren’s menu will be a complete mystery for guests – Chef asks that guests come with an open mind as each course is designed to invoke the described emotion. Dishes include “Fear,” “Surrender,” “Malevolence,” and “Suspense.” Put your faith in Saint’s John’s head chef to create the best mystery dining experience you’ve ever had at this one-of-a-kind dinner event with paired cocktails.

  • July 13, 6-9 p.m.: Bubbles and Blooms (Executive Chef Eric Cook + Gris-Gris to Go Go’s Chairman of the Boards, Hayley Vanvleet).
    • Delve under the sea with a completely pescatarian menu flaunting seafood and edible flowers plus bubble pairings with each course! Dishes include a Green Goddess Gazpacho with Apple Crab Salad, Basil Blossoms and Cucumber Flowers; Grilled Royal Red Shrimp with Coconut Ginger Rice, Blistered Kale and Hibiscus Blossom Gastrique; Tuna Carpaccio with Sweet Pea, Blood Orange, Lemon Oil and Fresh Jasmine Flowers and Peach Tea “Southern Style” Napoleon with a Honeysuckle Biscuit, Sweet Tea Mascarpone and Brown Sugar Peaches.

  • July 20, 6-9 p.m.: Tropic Like It’s Hot (Executive Chef Eric Cook + Gris-Gris’ Chef de Cuisine Bradley Marshall).
    • Enjoy a four-course Caribbean-inspired meal paired with light and refreshing libations. Dishes include Conch Fritters with cilantro tartar; Shrimp Mofongo (cast iron seared snapper with chimichurri); Coconut Curry Lamb with pigeon pea rice and mirliton pikliz and a Ginger Mango Flan.

  • July 27, 6-9 p.m.: Julia Brown – a Sneak Peek. (Executive Chef Eric Cook + Julia Brown’s Chef de Cuisine Darren Chabert).
