Guidebooks to Sin: The Blue Books of Storyville, New Orleans

Pamela Arceneaux is the senior librarian and rare books curator at The Historic New Orleans Collection (THNOC). The author recently published a fascinating book, "Guidebooks to Sin: The Blue Books of Storyville, New Orleans." Most New Orleanians are familiar with the city’s famous Storyville “red light” district; however, few know about the blue books. In this interview, Arceneaux offers some historical background on Storyville and explains what the blue books were. Arceneaux’s research will be part of a comprehensive exhibition, Storyville: Madams and Music. The exhibit will be on display at THNOC  April 5 – Dec. 2 at the Williams Research Center, 410 Chartres St. For additional information visit THNOC at hnoc.org.
