Fifty years ago, Anne Rice’s “Interview with the Vampire” changed vampire lore forever. Now, two New Orleans events are marking the golden anniversary of the book that made the undead irresistible.
On Oct. 25, there is a screening of “An Interview with a Vampire,” at the Prytania Theatre (5339 Prytania St.) with a question and answer with Rice’s son, Christopher Rice and Eric Shaw Quinn. theprytania.com; @theprytania
The 38th Annual Anne Rice Vampire Ball rises from the shadows on Oct. 30 at The Capital (210 Baronne St.). Expect a night of gothic glamour, blood-red drama and plenty of immortal revelry. Presented by the Anne Rice Vampire Lestat Fan Club. vamplestat.com; @annericevampireball

Dressed to NOLA
Fashion designer Ralph Lauren once said, “I don’t design clothes, I design dreams.” And on Oct. 22, New Orleans Independent Fashion plans to do just that when it presents “Nocturnes: A Fashion Review,” featuring the work of five designers in the intimate setting of the historic Margaret Place hotel (1133 Margaret Pl.). Add cocktails and a DJ, and you have all the ingredients for a stylish night out.

Queens of the Bard
All the world’s a stage — with the Batture (25 Walnut St.) setting the scene on Oct. 5 and 6 for Crescent City Stage’s Bard at the Batture: Ladies Night.
Located on the banks of the Mississippi River, this theatrical evening under the stars features monologues from Shakespeare’s ladies — the lovers, schemers, queens and witches. Think Juliet, Lady Macbeth, Rosalind and Cleopatra, to name a few.
Don’t forget to bring your chair, then buy some wine and food onsite at Miss Market, and enjoy! Doors, 5:30 p.m., performance at 6:30 p.m.

Dr. Frank-N-Furter’s Encore
Making its debut on stage in 1973 and going cinematic in 1975, “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” has never lost its ability to charm new audiences, showing thousands how to do the time warp and being introduced to Dr. Frank-N-Furter, made famous by the late Tim Curry. Throughout the year, fans can participate in interactive screenings (IYKYK) at the Prytania Theatre (5339 Prytania St.), and for October, it has multiple shows: Oct. 23, 24, 28, 30 and 31 (Friday and Saturday nights have midnight shows).
This season also brings two other special “Rocky Horror” events: Rivertown Theaters for the Performing Arts (325 Minor St., Kenner) presents the stage show Oct. 23, 24, 29-31, and on Oct. 29 there is a screening with a guest appearance by original movie cast member Barry Bostwick (“Brad Majors”) at the Mahalia Jackson Theater of the Performing Arts (1419 Basin St.)
