August is the perfect time to  head out to some of our great local spots for great cocktails. There are plenty of great happy hours to enjoy this month, so grab a friend, make a list and sip something special. For those, like us, who love to have a good time, here are just a few options for great drinking.

Avo (5908 Magazine St.) – Happy hour runs Monday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Cocktails and wine will run you $6 each. The Lavender French 75 caught our attention as it is made with gin, lemon, lavender and Prosecco. The house classic cocktails and wines are $6 and some of the beer costs $4. It’s a great uptown Italian place that also offers deals on some small plates.

Bombay Club (830 Conti St.) – This French Quarter spot is always a fun place for everyone. Happy hour is Monday through Friday from 4 – 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 1 – 7 p.m. The $4 beer selection includes Bud Light, Miller Light, Dixie and Abita Amber. The $5 wine includes Wycliffe Sparkling Rosé, Wave Series Sauvignon Blanc, Proverb Chardonnay and Trinity Oaks Pinot Noir. If it’s cocktails you’re looking for, you can get a Tom Collins, Champagne Cheryl, Whiskey Sour, The Conti, The Midtown and the Churchill Martini for $6 each. We tried a lot of them out and found them to mix well with the ambiance and music piping through the place.

Vessel Nola (3835 Iberville St.) – This old renovated church is a great place to eat, drink and congregate. Happy hour is weekdays from 4 to 6 p.m. You can get $6 classic selections, as well as $6 wine and two special $4 beers. It’s located in the heart of Mid-City, one block off the Canal Street streetcar line. Have fun getting there on the streetcar, then hop off and sip your way into the summer sunset.

These are of course just a few summertime selections. If you know of a great happy hour, let us know so we can share it with cocktail lovers everywhere.
