Local and national musicians helped raise funds and awareness for New Orleans Artists Against Hunger and Homelessness during a special concert at Generations Hall on December 5.
Backstage 2010 included such greats as NOAAHH co-founder Allen Toussaint along with Dr. John, Jimmy Buffett, Dave Bartholomew, Jon Cleary, Irma Thomas, Little Freddie King, Deacon John and many more musical powerhouses.
The event featured food and beverage from Kajun Kettle and Southern Hospitality Catering.
A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Big Chief Award to Dr. John for his dedication throughout the years. In honor of the New Orleans legend, NOAAHH commissioned a folk art piece from New Orleans artist Charles Gillam for the occasion.
Toussaint and Aaron Neville helped form NOAAHH in 1985 by organizing the group’s first benefit concert for the hungry and homeless in the New Orleans area. The organization has since grown exponentially, distributing more than $1 million to local charities since its inception.
