The (web) pages of “Let Them Eat Cake” cover various topics from décor to food. One subject we like to cover is date night or an activity couples can do together to keep the spark, bond or beat stress during the planning phase.
For the past few years, Molly Kimball founder of Ochsner’s Eat Fit New Orleans has spearheaded the Alcohol Free For 40 initiative. The 40-day program is essentially a detox for the 40 days of Lent (whether religious or not) following Carnival season. Those who sign up with the program have access to a plethora of materials to get through the 40 days. In addition, a $25 metric screening is offered, as well as invitations to mocktail meet-ups and happy hour workout sessions. Participation also puts you in a group of others following the program, which is a great source of support, as well as recipes and restaurant recommendations.
Not only can couples find “dry” activities to do together as date activities, but also, it could be fun to include members of the bridal party or your friend group. Making it a group effort adds accountability and support, and can be helpful when the bridal party is planning certain wedding-related events. Even if they aren’t participating, everyone will already be aware of your 40-day commitment and can plan parties accordingly.
This program is the right “fit” for a couple aiming to detox or just start fresh before they say, “I Do.”
